Raipur: Chaos erupted in Bilaspur's family court on Friday, July 10 when a woman lawyer named Leena Agrahari, physically assaulted her client Suman Thakur and her family members inside the court premises, an incident caught on camera and now sparking outrage online. Despite the presence of police, including women personnel, no action was taken during the assault.
Suman Thakur, who had approached the court to pursue a family dispute case against her husband, arrived with her mother Savitri Devi, a heart patient, and brother Mukund Thakur. She alleged that lawyer Leena Agrahari, who had already taken payment, refused to proceed with the case. When questioned, the lawyer reportedly flew into a rage.
The video shows Agrahari violently pulling Suman by the hair, pushing her to the ground, and assaulting her in full public view. When Suman’s elderly mother tried to intervene, she too was pushed forcefully to the ground. Savitri Devi had undergone heart surgery recently.

Brother Filmed Assault, Lawyer Tried to Snatch Phone
As Suman’s brother Mukund began filming the altercation, the lawyer grabbed him by his T-shirt and allegedly attempted to snatch his mobile phone. Despite being present, police officers failed to stop the incident. Instead, other lawyers reportedly sided with Agrahari, accusing the complainants of misbehaviour.
Later, Civil Lines police station in-charge SR Sahu confirmed the incident, saying, “There was a dispute and scuffle between the woman lawyer and the plaintiff’s family. After speaking to both sides, they reached an agreement," as quoted by Dainik Bhasker.
Pattern of Violence Emerging in Court Premises
This is not an isolated incident. Just five days earlier, lawyer Kunti Pawar was accused of assaulting another complainant, Priya Dwivedi, in the Tifra area family court after allegedly taking money and failing to file a bail application for Priya’s jailed husband.
