Focus on Kanwar Mela and Ground-Level Preparedness
In Haridwar for a two-day visit, CM Dhami chaired a high-level review meeting on Thursday at the Fair Control Room (CCR), taking stock of the Kanwar Mela preparations ahead of its commencement on July 11. The meeting included district officials, police, and key stakeholders from health, sanitation, traffic, and utilities departments, all of whom were instructed to come prepared with relevant documentation.
The review focused on streamlining arrangements for lakhs of devotees expected to arrive in the city. Special emphasis was placed on traffic regulation, crowd management, availability of electricity and clean drinking water, healthcare access, and overall public safety.
On Friday, the Chief Minister is set to be the chief guest at a grand event commemorating four years of his government, a programme organised by the BJP in Haridwar.
Kumbh 2027 Prep, Char Dham Progress and SDG Recognition
Speaking to ANI earlier, Dhami confirmed that preparations are “underway” for the 2027 Kumbh Mela. “Under the leadership of the Prime Minister… we have started the winter yatra, and other religious sites have been developed,” he said, adding that the Char Dham Yatra is progressing smoothly.
He also spotlighted the state’s top rank among small states in NITI Aayog’s Sustainable Development Goals index, citing balanced growth “by integrating ecology, economy, and technology.” Key infrastructure developments, such as the Char Dham all-weather road, Kedarnath-Badrinath renovation, and expansion of Pantnagar Airport, were also highlighted as part of Uttarakhand’s long-term vision.
