West Delhi: A major accident was averted and a woman narrowly escaped death in Delhi's Tagore Garden area, where an electric pole suddenly collapsed on a woman riding a scooter. Fortunately, passersby immediately came to her rescue.

The incident occurred on Monday evening around 5:30 p.m, when two electricity poles installed along the roadside in Tagore Garden's AD Block suddenly broke and fell in the middle of the road. At that moment, a woman riding a scooter happened to be passing by and was struck by one of the poles. Fortunately, she sustained only minor injuries and her life was saved.

Incident Caught On CCTV

The frightening incident was captured on a nearby CCTV camera. The footage shows an electric pole falling on the moving scooter, whose rider was wearing a helmet. Sparks can be seen coming out of the wires as it collapses. The woman appears to be trapped under the pole, but soon a crowd gathers at the scene and begins helping to rescue her.

Electricity Department Informed

Locals immediately informed the electricity department about the incident, after which officials reached the spot and cut off the power supply. The scooter was then removed from under the collapsed pole. Police also arrived at the scene and began an investigation.

Locals told Aaj Tak that several other electric poles in the area are either weak or leaning, posing a serious risk.
