New Delhi: Ruckus erupted outside the Delhi Assembly after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA and leader of opposition (LoP) Atishi alleged that the police stopped the MLAs from her party from entering the Delhi Assembly. The AAP leaders claimed that the police put up barricades to stop them from entering the assembly.

Atishi and other AAP leaders staged a protest outside assembly premises with placards of 'Jai Bhim'.

While speaking to news agency ANI, the Kalkaji MLA said, "Police officers are saying that we (AAP MLAs) are suspended from the assembly, so we will not even be allowed to enter the assembly premises. This is undemocratic and unconstitutional.."

"o date, this has never happened in the history of the country... Even in Parliament, there are protests under the Gandhi statue even after being suspended... After all, how can we be stopped? We tried to talk to the Speaker but nothing is happening," she added.

Atishi's Statement:

Meanwhile, Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma defended the suspension of the AAP MLAs. He said that they were suspended as they disrupted the proceeding of the house.  "They cannot raise slogans when the LG is addressing the House. If they break the laws like this, it is not good," Verma said as reported by India Today.

On Tuesday, chaos erupted in the Delhi Assembly amid uproar over the tabling of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report. Twenty-one AAP MLAs, including Atishi and Gopal Rai, were suspended by Speaker Vijender Gupta from the assembly for raising slogans during Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena's address.

Gupta suspended 21 AAP MLAs from the Legislative Assembly till February 28.  The proposal for their suspension was moved by Verma. It was passed through a voice vote in the House. The suspended MLAs will not be allowed to participate in the assembly proceedings on February 27 and 28.
