Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday visited the home of Prashant Satpathy in Balasore to pay his last respects to the victim of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. Satpathy was among those killed in the incident.

Expressing his condolences, the Chief Minister announced ₹20 lakh in financial assistance for the bereaved family and assured a government job for Satpathy’s wife.

“The state government stands firmly with the family in this time of grief. Along with the financial aid and a job for the victim’s wife, the government will also take responsibility for the child’s education,” CM Majhi said.

The mortal remains of Satpathy reached his residence in Balasore earlier in the day. CM Majhi also met and consoled the grieving family members. Recalling the distressing moments of uncertainty, Satpathy’s sister shared, “We struggled to get in touch with them… Initially, we were told he was safe. But later, at the Delhi airport, we were informed of his death.”

Meanwhile, a group of eight tourists from Puri, including a child, who were in Jammu & Kashmir at the time of the attack, returned safely to Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
