Anjaw: Heavy rains wreaked havoc in northeastern parts of India in the past few days. These northeastern states, including Arunachal Pradesh, are reeling under devasting floods. On Monday, a video of a man risking his life in Arunachal Pradesh's Anjaw district to cross a flooded river surfaced online.
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also shared the 45-second clip on his official X handle. In the video, the man could be seen crossing the heavily flooded river with the help of a 'traditional hanging bridged' which seemed to be damaged due to floods.
In the video, the man could be seen hanging from the ropes in the upper part of the damaged bridge.
"Arunachal Pradesh receives heaviest Monsoon rains in the world. Got this video of a man crossing a traditional hanging bridge in Anjaw district, Arunachal Pradesh near the tri-junction of India, China and Myanmar border. Please remain careful and safe. The government will provide the necessary support," Rijiju said. Notably, he is the MP from West Arunachal Pradesh Lok Sabha seat.
Earlier on Monday, as part of critical humanitarian assistance the Indian Air Force (IAF) rescued 14 people stranded in the middle of the flooded Bomjir River in the Lower Dibang Valley of the state. The area was cut off from the mainland.
The operation was undertaken by Mi-17 helicopter. The IAF's Eastern Air Command shared a video of the rescue operation. The rescued individuals were airlifted to a safe location.
