A video capturing a committee of endangered vultures has been widely shared on social media, with claims that the birds seen in the footage belong to a species on the brink of extinction.

The clip shows the predators—also known as scavengers—perched on damp ground following a spell of rain.

The sighting has filled forest officials, environmentalists, and wildlife enthusiasts with hope. According to reports, after a steep decline in India’s vulture population due to various threats, there are now signs of a gradual increase in these endangered birds.

A motorist reportedly filmed the vultures in a field near Ganeshpur Naka in Rajasthan’s Baran district.

The video has drawn mixed reactions from social media users. Responding to the viral footage, one user sarcastically remarked, "What do you mean vultures are almost extinct? I see flocks of them every day on TV news channels!"

Urging government action to protect the species, another user commented, "Wow, amazing! There used to be so many in our villages. Authorities must intervene to conserve them—otherwise, future generations will only see vultures in textbooks."

A third user noted, "Vultures were once common in Rajasthan, but nowadays they’ve become a rare sight."
