Moradabad: A commission agent in Moradabad ended his life after his shop was demolished during a bulldozer operation carried out by local authorities on Tuesday. The deceased, Chetan Saini, was the elder brother of BJP Mandal Vice President Gajendra Singh and had been running a fruit business for over two decades in the Mandi Samiti area of Majhola.
Alleged Lack of Notice or Rehabilitation Sparks Outrage
According to eyewitnesses, Saini fell into deep mental distress after his registered shop operating under his father’s name was razed without prior resolution or alternative arrangements. That night, he died by suicide after jumping from the roof of his home. Police have sent the body for post-mortem and initiated an investigation.
The demolition drive, led by the local administration in response to a recent scuffle involving the Mandi Secretary, deployed three bulldozers to remove alleged encroachments. Saini’s shop was among those affected.
