Lucknow: Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh, an alumnus of La Martinière College and Lucknow University, has been appointed as the new Vice Chief of the Army Staff for the Indian Army, effective August 1, 2025. He takes over from Lieutenant General N.S. Raja Subramani.
Special Forces Officer With 35 Years of Service
A veteran of the Indian Army's Para Special Forces (4 Para), Lt. General Singh has commanded several key operations over his 35 year career, including 'Operation Pawan,' 'Operation Meghdoot,' 'Operation Rakshak,' and 'Operation Orchid.'

Twice Sena Medal Winner, Served in UN Missions
He also served with distinction in UN peacekeeping missions in Lebanon and Sri Lanka. For his bravery and service, he has been awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and the Sena Medal twice.
