Kanpur: Kanpur Metro is taking steady strides not just in providing safe and efficient urban mobility, but also in creating a vibrant commercial ecosystem across its network. With 16 retail outlets already operational between IIT and Motijheel on Corridor-1, commuters currently enjoy access to food, beverages, electronics, and pharmaceutical items.

The next phase of development now includes new commercial offerings from IIT to Kanpur Central, where tenders for kiosks and shop spaces have officially been floated.

To further elevate passenger convenience and station activity, Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) is opening 56 retail units at 14 stations, five of which are newly operational.

These units, spread across the ground, concourse, and platform levels, will host popular food and retail brands. Applications can be submitted between July 29 and August 7 via the UPMRC website: www.upme trorail.com.

In parallel, 36 kiosk spaces are being offered at eight stations of the Priority Corridor, including IIT, Kalyanpur, Vishwavidyalay, and Motijheel.

Applications for these kiosks are open from August 5 to August 18. Kanpur Metro is also providing short-term stall spaces for book fairs, NGOs, and self-help groups, encouraging community and commercial engagement. Stall rates start at `500/day for NGOs and `1250/day for commercial entities, while book fair stalls range from `700 to `1100/day (plus GST), based on size.

With this move, Kanpur Metro continues to merge urban transit with modern lifestyle amenities, enriching the passenger experience across its growing network.
