Lucknow: A robber was injured in an encounter with Lucknow police early Wednesday morning in the Alambagh police station area. Police signaled for two suspects on a motorcycle to stop, but the individuals opened fire, prompting officers to cordon off the area. In the retaliatory action, one robber sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was subsequently apprehended.
The injured individual has been identified as Anees, a history-sheeter and externed criminal with 22 cases registered against him. He was admitted to a hospital for treatment. His accomplice managed to flee under the cover of darkness, and police are actively searching for him.
According to Alambagh police, the encounter occurred after receiving intelligence about two suspicious individuals on a motorcycle near Graham Bell Morh culvert, coming from Langra Phatak towards Mavaiya via TN Bajpai Chowk. When officers attempted to stop them, the suspects tried to escape, causing their bike to skid and fall.

One of them then fired at the police.
Authorities recovered a country-made pistol, two cartridges, a motorcycle, a mobile phone, and ₹600 in cash from Anees. Police stated that Anees and his accomplice were involved in a robbery on June 6 near the Alambagh bus stand. In that incident, Anuradha, a woman traveling in an e-rickshaw with her husband, had her purse snatched by two individuals on a black Apache motorcycle.
The robbery caused Anuradha to fall from the e-rickshaw, sustaining injuries. Her purse contained ₹11,000, a gold chain, earrings, and house keys.
