Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh's active COVID-19 cases have surpassed 200, with a seven-year-old from Sitapur becoming the latest critical patient admitted to Lucknow's SGPGI. The child, suffering from jaundice and other complications alongside coronavirus infection, was transferred to ICU care after testing positive on June 4.
Lucknow alone accounts for nine active cases, including a civil hospital physician and a 27-year-old woman, both currently in home isolation. Health authorities confirm all cases through RT-PCR testing, though preliminary antigen screenings indicate wider spread. Gautam Buddh Nagar remains the state's hotspot with 143 active infections, followed by Ghaziabad (35).

The resurgence comes as most residents abandon precautions, despite the government maintaining surveillance at major hospitals. The infected doctor from Civil Hospital is being treated at home after developing symptoms four days prior. With no secondary cases reported in his household yet.
