UP Shocker! Woman, Friends Burn Cat Alive After It Crosses Their Path; Booked

Moradabad: A woman and her friends were booked for allegedly  burning a wild cat alive after it crossed their path. The incident is reportedly from Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad. 

The matter came to light after the video made by the woman and her friends while burning the cat went viral on social media. 

Police Intervention 

According to India Today,The case comes under Bhojpur police station. The police said that the Delhi’s Wildlife Crime Control Bureau received an email complaint along with a video, after which an FIR was filed. The police also denied to share the video as the probe was ongoing.

Sections Under Which Case Is Registered

The accused have been booked under Sections 9, 39, and 51 of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. If convicted, the punishment is up to three years in jail and a fine of ₹ 1 lakh.

What Is Wildlife Protection Act 1972

This Act provides for the protection of the country’s wild animals, birds, and plant species, The Act was last amended in 2006.
