In a major relief for students from economically weaker sections, the Uttar Pradesh government has agreed to raise the annual family income limit for availing student scholarships. Earlier capped at ₹2 lakh per year, the new limit will now be ₹2.5 lakh annually.

This change will benefit students from general, backward, and minority communities under the state’s scholarship and fee reimbursement scheme. Over 50 lakh students benefit from this scheme every year, and the new income cap is expected to widen its reach further.
