Lucknow: To curb the spread of vector-borne diseases such as dengue, malaria, and chikungunya during the monsoon season, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation has launched drone-assisted anti-larval spraying operations. Under the supervision of Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar, anti-larval spraying and fogging are being carried out across different city zones.
Drone Spraying Over Water Bodies in Key Zones
On Thursday, drones were used to spray insecticide over major water bodies such as Butler Palace Lake (Zone 1) and Moti Jheel (Zone 2). Additional Municipal Commissioners Lalit Kumar and Arun Kumar Gupta were present on-site to monitor the operations.
Targeting Mosquito Breeding Hotspots
Officials have been directed to identify areas prone to mosquito breeding due to waterlogging and ensure prompt spraying. Municipal Health Officer P.K. Srivastava stated that all Zonal Sanitary Officers have been instructed to identify sites where manual spraying is not feasible and ensure drone-based operations are carried out effectively.

Public awareness messages are being broadcast through the municipal corporation’s screens, public address systems, and waste collection vehicles. Residents are urged to prevent water accumulation around their homes, clean coolers regularly, and follow health department guidelines to support the city’s efforts in controlling the spread of communicable diseases.
