Bondhu Mahal welcomed the Bengali New Year, Poila Boishakh, with a vibrant celebration marked by community service, cultural pride, and heartfelt recognition, held at Rajendra Singh Park, Indira Nagar.

As part of its annual tradition, the club distributed stationery kits to underprivileged students of Boy's Anglo Bengali Inter College, reinforcing its commitment to supporting education for the under-resourced.

“We believe that the true spirit of Poila Boishakh lies in sharing and uplifting others,” said Shushanto Ghosh, Secretary of Bondhu Mahal. “Every year, we aim to extend our celebrations beyond rituals by contributing meaningfully to society.”

A special felicitation ceremony was also held where Bondhu Mahal honoured three distinguished individuals — Wing Commander R.N. Sengupta, Colonel P.K. Bose, and Mohini ji — for their enduring contributions in strengthening the club’s mission and activities. They were commended for their continued support and community leadership.

“We are humbled and honoured by this recognition,” said Wing Commander Sengupta. “Bondhu Mahal is more than a club — it is a family that works with sincerity for the betterment of society.”

Pranshu Mishra, Editor of Hindustan Times, Lucknow, who attended the event as Chief Guest, praised the Bengali community’s impact across sectors. “From literature and politics to spiritual thought, Bengalis have made deep and lasting contributions to Indian society,” he said. “Bondhu Mahal’s efforts to support children's education through the savings from Durga Puja celebrations is a shining example of cultural responsibility.”

The evening concluded with a captivating cultural program led by noted performer Brototi Chakraborty. She and fellow members presented a graceful mix of music, dance, and poetry, celebrating Bengal’s rich artistic traditions.

“It was a mesmerizing evening filled with soul and purpose,” said Chakraborty. “Our goal was to bring people together through art and expression.”

Bondhu Mahal’s Poila Boishakh celebration once again stood out for blending festivity with philanthropy, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
