Kolkata: Attending a programme at Panihati in North 24 Parganas, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday had condemned the rape incident in college.
The Union Education Minister also lamented the decline of Bengal’s legacy in education and culture during Trinamool Congress (TMC) regime.
“The culprits will be tried in the people’s court of Bengal. They must be thrown out only then peace will return in Bengal. This is not just a matter of CBI probe. Mamata didi was once a student leader. I am surprised how such criminals are given patronage? Does it not pain her? What condition she had made in today’s students’ generation,” said the Union Education Minister.
Referring to the recent rape incident and RG Kar rape and murder incident, Pradhan added, “The mindset of the ruling party of Bengal is exposed with such incidents. This state is headed by a woman yet see the condition of the women in Bengal. Bengal is the place of Ma Saraswati and the place for women’s development. Bengal used to be an example for the entire country regarding women’s progress in education.”

On the other hand, Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari held a ‘Kanya Suraksha Rally’ from Golpark to Gariahat.
“We will move Calcutta High Court to seek permission to demonstrate at Kasba. If we are given permission, we will conduct that in the first week of July. The criminals are from the ‘Bhaipo’ (nephew) gang. They have captured all the colleges. No women are safe till Mamata Banerjee is thrown out of power,” added Adhikari.
