Srinagar: A day after a video of a senior Army officer grievously assaulting four SpiceJet employees at the boarding gate of flight SG-359 from Srinagar to Delhi went viral, another video of the incident surfaced online.

In the second video, it could be seen that it was the Lieutenant Colonel who was allegedly hit by the airline's staff first, after which the Army officer retaliated. However, the Free Press Journal cannot verify the authenticity of the second video. The officer has been identified as Lieutenant Colonel R K Singh.

The latest video shows the airline employees behaving aggressively and hitting the Lt Col first. In the video, it could be seen that the Army officer was pushed to the ground, and then he retaliated and allegedly assaulted the staff members of the airline.

What 'Eyewitness' Said?

An X user claiming to be the eyewitness of the entire incident blamed the airline's staff for being rude to the Army officer, which led to the incident.

"I witnessed the event at the boarding gate. The officer, traveling alone w/ an 8–9 kg cabin bag due to a family emergency, had his bag cleared at check-in. At the gate, 4–5 SpiceJet staff aggressively confronted him about the bag’s weight, despite prior clearance. He calmly explained & removed items to lighten it, but the staff mocked him, saying, “Aaj army wala fansa hai,” aiming to intimidate or fine him," the X user, named Desh Bandhiu Pandey, wrote.

"When he asked for a senior official, they refused & shut the gate while he tried to reason. A minor scuffle ensued; he was outnumbered, shaken, & visibly injured. Claims he "assaulted" staff are false—SpiceJet’s staff, w/ minor bruises, filed an FIR & sought hospitalization, likely to deflect blame," he added.

The officer is currently posted in north Kashmir. He has been booked for allegedly assaulting SpiceJet employees. The officer has been attached to the High-Altitude Warfare School in Gulmarg.

What SpiceJet Employee Said?

Meanwhile, Mudasir Ahmad Khan, the SpiceJet employee who has been bedridden due to an alleged assault by an army officer at Srinagar airport last month, said he was targeted for doing his work honestly. He demanded stern action against the assailant to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.

"I saw this man was carrying two cabin bags and asked him to stand aside so that they could be weighed. Against an allowance of 7 kilograms per piece of cabin baggage, this man was carrying two which weighed 16 kilograms," Khan told PTI.

Khan said he asked the army officer to pay for extra baggage but he became irate and misbehaved with him and other colleagues before turning violent.

"He hit me with the bag, he punched me and slapped me till blood started oozing from my mouth and nose. Then I fell unconscious. Later I saw in the videos that he was not allowing anyone to even pick me up. He even assaulted four employees," the injured man said.

The airline issued a detailed statement about the incident, saying one of the four victims of the assault had suffered spinal injuries. They also said it has initiated the process to place the passenger on the no-fly list in line with civil aviation regulations.

Initial Video Of The Incident That Surfaced On August 3:

"A passenger grievously assaulted four SpiceJet employees at the boarding gate of flight SG-386 from Srinagar to Delhi on July 26, 2025. Our staff members suffered a spinal fracture and serious jaw injuries after being attacked with punches, repeated kicks and a queue stand," the SpiceJet said in a statement.

Army officials said the issue has come to the notice of the Indian Army and "we are awaiting the conclusion of the pending investigation". As per a report by TOI, the Army said that based on the outcome of the probe, further action will be decided.
