A devastating car accident early Friday morning on the Balasinor-Ahmedabad highway claimed the lives of four individuals. The tragedy occurred near the Ladvel intersection when a cow strayed onto the road, causing the car to overturn. All four passengers died on the spot.

Police arrived at the scene promptly and have initiated an investigation to determine the sequence of events. The bodies of the deceased have been sent to a government hospital for post-mortem examination and will be handed over to their families afterward. The accident left the car severely damaged, underscoring the force of the impact.

In a separate incident on Thursday night, a car overturned on the highway between Dhrol’s Latipar and Gokulpur in Jamnagar. Authorities are investigating the circumstances behind the accident, which also resulted in fatalities. The bodies have been transferred for post-mortem examination.

These incidents highlight the growing concerns about road safety in Gujarat. In response to the rising number of accidents, the state government has launched significant measures. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved a total of ₹187.52 crore for road safety improvements, including ₹87.52 crore for installing anti-glare systems across 786 kilometers of four-lane and six-lane roads.

Additionally, ₹100.53 crore has been allocated for enhancing existing roads with features like curve improvements, crash barriers, spot widening, and road furniture. These measures aim to mitigate accident risks and ensure safer traffic flow.

Such initiatives are vital in light of the recent tragedies. The government’s proactive approach to road safety, including these infrastructure upgrades, is expected to significantly reduce the number of accidents on Gujarat’s highways.
