New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal on Monday hit out at the Election Commission after Delhi Chief Minister Atishi was booked for poll code violation. Kejriwal said that his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is fighting against the "rotten" system" which has to be changed.

Referring to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) , Kejriwal alleged that EC did not taken action against their leaders even when they "openly distribute money, sarees, blankets, gold chains".

"Their leaders openly distribute money, sarees, blankets, gold chains etc., get fake votes made, yet not even an FIR is registered. But an FIR is immediately registered against Chief Minister Atishi ji," the AAP chief tweeted in Hindi.

"Aam Aadmi Party is fighting against the entire system. This rotten system has to be changed and cleaned together with the people. Both BJP and Congress are part of the same rotten system," he added.

Kejriwal's Tweet:

Earlier in the day, an FIR was registered against Atishi on the complaint filed by the returning officer for allegedly using a government vehicle for personal use. The complainant alleged that a PWD government vehicle was being used to deliver campaign materials to AAP's election office, reported India Today.

Notably, the model code of conduct came into force in Delhi after the EC announced the schedule for the upcoming assembly elections in the national capital territory on January 7.

The Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 are scheduled to take place in a single phase on February 5. Votes will be counted on February 8.

Delhi will witness a fierce triangular battle between the AAP, the BJP and the Congress. The Kejriwal-led party will be eying to retain the power for the third consecutive time, while the BJP is trying its best to dethrone the AAP.

Notably, the grand old party had failed top even open its account in the last two Delhi assembly elections. This time around, the Congress is hoping top increase its tally by denting the vote shar of the AAP and the BJP.
