Himanshi Narwal, the widow of Indian Air Force officer Vinay Narwal who was killed in the 22 April terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, has appealed to the government to continue its efforts beyond Operation Sindoor to eradicate terrorism from the country.
Speaking to a news agency on Wednesday, Narwal responded to Operation Sindoor, the military strikes conducted by the Indian Armed Forces against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
"My husband served in the defence forces. He wanted to protect peace and innocent lives. He was committed to ensuring there would be no hatred or terror in this country," she said.
Urging the government to take stronger action against terrorists, she added: "I am grateful to the government, but I request them not to stop here. This should only be the beginning of the end for terrorism in our nation."
Following the Pahalgam terror attack, a picture of Himanshi sitting beside her husband's body, her face overcome with grief, shocked the nation and became a defining image of the brutality inflicted by terrorists.
In retaliation for the attack, the Indian armed forces conducted precision missile strikes in the early hours of Wednesday, targeting nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK under Operation Sindoor.

Earlier today, Vinay Narwal's father, Rajesh Narwal, praised India's decisive response, stating that the Modi government had delivered a powerful message. He asserted that after Operation Sindoor, terrorists would "think a hundred times" before attempting similar attacks in the future.
"When this (Pahalgam) tragedy occurred, you (the media) came to my home and asked what I expected from the government. I said I had full faith in our leaders – and today, the government has justified that trust," Rajesh Narwal told reporters.
"I had insisted that such retaliation was necessary to ensure no one would dare commit such cowardly acts again... The strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and PoK will haunt them forever."
Vinay Narwal, accompanied by his wife Himanshi, was on honeymoon in Pahalgam just days after their wedding when terrorists opened fire on tourists, killing him and 25 others.
