The southwest monsoon will reach Kerala soon
The southwest monsoon is expected to arrive in Kerala between May 22 and May 27, which is a few days earlier than the usual June 1st arrival date. This means you can expect the rainy season to begin a little earlier than usual in Kerala.

What is the reason behind pre-monsoon showers?
Kerala is undergoing pre-monsoon rainfall, referred to as mango showers, because of the effect of a low-pressure system in the Arabian Sea. This system is strengthening into a cyclonic circulation, which is expected to draw the monsoon winds towards Kerala sooner than expected, resulting in an early arrival of the southwest monsoon.
