Srinagar: At least 28 people lost their lives after terrorists opened fire on tourists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on Tuesday. An initial investigation into the terror attack revealed that Pahalgam terror attack was preplanned and terrorists wore helmet-mounted cameras to record the entire sequence of events. terrorists also used advanced military equipment to carry out the attack.

Handlers of the terrorists were reportedly in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Karachi as digital footprints of the suspects were traced to Pakistan, reported India Today.

Photograph Of Terrorists:

According to reports, three terrorists gathered the tourists together and then separated males from females. The terrorists asked the males about their identity to confirm their religion and then opened fire.

Visuals Of The Attack:

As per a News18 report, some tourists were shot from a distance by the remaining terrorists. The attack took place in the Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam. It is located around six kilometres from Pahalgam. a breathtaking meadow often referred to as 'Mini Switzerland.'

Why Baisaran Valley is Chosen For The Attack?

The valley is chosen for the attack reportedly due to less presence of security around it. Meanwhile, another possible reason could be that no motor vehicles are allowed on the trail leading to the meadow, preserving its raw, untouched beauty. Most of the casualties took place due to loss of blood as the terrain posed a challenge for a timely rescue operation.

Tourists must either walk the steep path or hire ponies for the roughly six-kilometres uphill journey. This lack of vehicle access, while helping maintain ecological balance, also means the area becomes isolated, particularly during emergencies or unexpected events. This led to the advantage of the terrorists.
