Mathura: A Dalit wedding procession in Mathura’s Bhureka village turned violent when a group of 25 men allegedly attacked attendees with rods and sticks late Tuesday night. The assailants, reportedly from neighboring villages, objected to the DJ music and dragged the groom from his horse carriage, threatening to "shoot him if he dared ride it again."

Despite police intervention that allowed wedding rituals to proceed overnight, attackers returned Wednesday morning armed with knives and pistols. They assaulted the bride’s relatives, vandalized property, and stole money from the carriage driver.

The bride’s uncle Puran Singh filed a complaint naming three individuals, though no arrests have been made.

Notably, the incident occurred in a village with 80% Dalit population, raising questions about administrative failure to prevent recurring caste-based violence. Police escorted the wedding party to the Aligarh border, while Bhim Army activists provided additional security.
