On the occasion of 76th Republic Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday (January 26) extended wishes to the nation appealing for strengthening efforts towards preservation of Constitutional ideals and to work for a prosperous India. He took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to wish Indians.
The grand display of nation's military prowess, as well as its rich cultural diversity unity equality was already on display on Kartavya Path in New Delhi on Sunday.
This year, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is chief guest for Republic Day celebrations led by President Droupadi Murmu.
Invites were also sent to around 10,000 special guests for the Republic Day parade. This is in accordance with Modi government's objective of 'Jan Bhagidari' or participation of people.
These special guests are from different walks of life.
This time, the three wings of armed forces of India will display the spirit of unity and integration under the theme 'Sashakt Aur Surakshit Bharat'.
The parade is set to start at 10:30 am and will go on for 90 minutes.
PM Modi will visit the National War Memorial marking the start of Republic Day celebrations. After laying a wreath in remembrance of fallen heroes of the nation, the PM will arrive at the saluting dais at the Kartavya Path.
This year, the parade will be commanded by Parade Commander Lieutenant General Bhavnish Kumar. Major General Sumit Mehta, Chief of Staff, HQ Delhi Area will be Second-in-Command of the parade.
