Rajasthan Police have launched a Cyber Support Center in the capital city of Jaipur, where professional counselors will help cybercrime victims cope with the mental and emotional impact of digital harassment, in addition to providing legal and technical support.
Rajasthan’s Director General of Police, U.R. Sahu, inaugurated the center at the Jaipur Police Commissionerate on Saturday. The initiative has been established in collaboration with the Mumbai-based NGO Responsible Netizens, whose cyber experts and counselors, along with the Rajasthan Police team, will assist victims of cyber fraud and crime.
“The Cyber Support Center has been established to combat online harassment, provide immediate assistance to victims of cybercrimes, and promote cyber wellness under the Cyber Safe Jaipur campaign,” said DGP Sahu. “Professional cyber experts and counselors have been deployed at the center to help victims manage mental stress and support them in filing FIRs. Legal assistance will also be provided, along with help in removing photos, videos, or other content from social media.”
Stressing the need for greater public awareness about cybersecurity, DGP Sahu said that cybercrime is rapidly increasing in the country and there is an urgent need to educate people to prevent such crimes. Police are recruiting professionals to address this issue and will conduct awareness campaigns in various colleges and schools.

Notably, Rajasthan’s Mewat region is known to be a hub for cybercrime and fraud. According to NCRB data, one in three children using cyberspace faces online bullying, and 70% of children have encountered cyber threats. Thirty percent of cybercrime cases target women. Financial cybercrime cases have increased by 24.5%, and cyber fraud alone has caused losses exceeding ₹2,054 crore in 2024.
Approximately 3,000 cybercrime cases are registered annually in Rajasthan. Of these, 47.25% involve financial crimes, 30.16% are related to UPI scams, 12% concern social media misuse, and 11% involve sexual harassment. In the last three years, people have lost ₹1,581 crore to cybercrime, though timely police intervention helped recover ₹676 crore. Cyber helplines in Rajasthan receive 10 to 15 calls daily about cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and other forms of digital harassment, with women being especially targeted.
