Baran, Rajasthan: A man lost his life in a tragic accident after he fell from a hot air balloon during the 35th Foundation Day celebrations of Rajasthan's Baran district on Thursday (April 10) morning.
The victim, identified as Vasudev Khatri, was part of a team that was conducting tests on the balloon when he got entangled in one of its ropes and was inadvertently lifted into the air.

Rope Snapped Mid-Air At 100 Ft
The horrifying incident which was captured on camera, shows Khatri standing on the ground near the hot air balloon when a rope loops around him. As the balloon begins to ascend in the clip, he is pulled upwards rapidly, reportedly to a height of nearly 100 feet. Moments later, the rope snaps, and Khatri plummets to the ground in front of a stunned crowd.
People present on the site rushed to help him and immediately took him to a nearby hospital. However, doctors declared him dead upon arrival. According to a report by NDTV, Khatri was not a participant in the balloon ride but was part of the ground crew involved in the testing process.
Authorities Cancel Celebration, Inquiry Underway
The hot air balloon was reportedly provided by a private company that has previously collaborated with the Baran district administration for their official events. Following the incident, all scheduled events for the three-day celebration, earlier set to run from Tuesday onwards, were cancelled as a mark of respect.
Baran District Collector Rohitash Singh Tomar also confirmed the news of cancellation and shared that an investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the accident and establish accountability.
