Chandigarh: While marketplaces across Punjab returned to normalcy, the schools and colleges in the border districts including Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Ferozepur, Tarn Taran and Fazilka, remained shut as a precautionary measure on Monday in the wake of a pause on hostilities between India and Pakistan.
Punjab shares a 553-km border with Pakistan.
While all the schools in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur and Fazilka remained closed, colleges and universities also remained shut in Pathankot and Gurdaspur.
Even as usual hustle bustle was back in the marketplaces of towns and cities of the districts named above, the administration did not clamp blackouts in the border districts and held that the situation was under control .The people were, however, urged to observe caution and advised them to voluntarily switch off lights at homes and avoid venturing outside unless necessary.

It may be recalled that while all the border districts witnessed several drones’ attacks, Pathankot saw waves of drones attacks though most of them were intercepted and neutralised by the Indian armed forces.
