Bengaluru: A grocery delivery agent allegedly physically assaulted a 30-year-old businessman in Karnataka's Bengaluru on May 21. The incident took place outside the businessman's house in Basaveshwaranagar's Judges Colony.
The dispute erupted between the victim's sister-in-law and the Zepto delivery agent an order was placed through the app, reported The Times of India. The complainant, Shashank S, claimed that the accused arrived at his house around 1.50 pm to deliver groceries.
The delivery agent has been identified as Vishnuvardhan. Shashank's sister-in-law went to collect the order. However, a dispute occurred between the two over the mismatch in the delivery address. As the argument escalated, the businessman intervened. However, Shashank claimed that Vishnuvardhan started verbally abusing him. The delivery agent also allegedly punched him in his head. The entire incident was caught on CCTV.

in the video, going viral, Vishnuvardhan could be seen repeatedly hitting Shashank in the face and the head. After the incident, when the businessman sought medical attention, he was informed by the doctors that he had suffered a skull fracture, reported TOI.
The victim also claimed that the doctors suggested surgery if the injury did not heal. Shashank posted about the incident on his Instagram. He also shared the CCTV footage of Vishnuvarshan hitting him.
Zepto expressed regret over the incident. "We regret any inconvenience caused. Professional conduct is essential to us, we’ll make sure this is addressed,” Zepto said as quoted by TOI. A case has also been registered against the delivery agent under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nayaya Sanhita (BNS). A detailed investigation has been launched into the matter.
