Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth more than Rs 5,871 crore at Jasauli in Siwan district in Siwan.
These projects are aimed at boosting infrastructure and connectivity in the region.
He also flagged off a state-of-the-art locomotive built at the Marhowrah Plant, for export to the Republic of Guinea. This is the first export locomotive manufactured in this factory. They are equipped with high-horsepower engines, advanced AC propulsion system, microprocessor-based control systems, ergonomic cab designs and incorporate technologies like regenerative braking.
Elated over the achievement, Bihar will become a big centre of Made in India. He also heaped praise on chief minister Nitish Kumar for creating a launch pad for the speedy growth of Bihar, adding that the state would achieve new heights of growth under the NDA rule.
Modi also flagged off the Vande Bharat Express between Patliputra and Gorakhpur via Muzaffarpur and Bettiah, and also inaugurated the new Vaishali–Deoria railway line project worth over Rs 400 crore. He also inaugurated six sewage treatment plants (STPs) under the Namami Gange project worth over Rs 1800 crore catering to the needs of people in the region.
Prime Minister released the first installment to more than 53,600 beneficiaries of PMAY U in Bihar. He also handed over keys to a few beneficiaries to mark the Grih Pravesh Ceremony of more than 6,600 completed houses of PMAYU.
Development projects to boost NDA`s prospects
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth thousands of crores of rupees in each of his visits to the state. He has visited Bihar four times this year, as the state assembly election is due in October-November this year.
With chief minister Nitish Kumar also inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for various development projects at regular intervals in the recent time, an impression is being created that a double engine government in Bihar is working with double speed.

Bihar deputy chief minister Vijay Kumar Sinha said, "It was a very historic event...The way people welcomed and greeted the Prime Minister, it was tremendous."
