Amid continuing protests by Opposition MPs, the Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day and will meet again on Thursday, 28th November.

The proceedings in both houses of Parliament began with sloganeering on Wednesday, as Opposition MPs created a ruckus over the Adani bribery case and the Sambhal violence.

After the disruption, the lower House resumed at 12 PM only to be adjourned for the day.

Due to the ruckus created by Opposition MPs, the proceedings of the Upper House of Parliament were also adjourned for the day.

Rahul Gandhi demands Gautam Adani's arrest

Earlier today, speaking to reporters outside the Parliament building, Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, commented on the Adani Group’s denial of bribery allegations made by a U.S. court involving industrialist Gautam Adani.

Gandhi demanded Adani's arrest in connection with these allegations. His remarks followed a statement by Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), which dismissed the accusations made by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission against the Group's founder Gautam Adani, his nephew Sagar Adani, and AGEL’s MD and CEO Vineet Jain. The rebuttal was filed with stock exchanges earlier today.

“Do you think Adani is going to accept the charges? Of course not; he will deny them. The fact remains that he must be arrested, as we’ve demanded,” Gandhi stated. He criticized the government, alleging it was shielding Adani, and highlighted the disparity in how individuals are treated under the law. “People are being jailed for minor offenses, while this gentleman (Gautam Adani), accused in the U.S. of corruption involving thousands of crores, walks free. He should be in jail, but the government is protecting him,” he said.
