Jamnagar (Gujarat): A Pakistani drone was spotted over Jamnagar, Gujarat, at around 4 am on Thursday morning. The Indian armed forces acted swiftly, shooting down the drone before it could reach its intended target. Following the interception, a blackout was enforced across Jamnagar city as a precautionary security measure.

This incident was part of a larger offensive from Pakistan, which launched coordinated drone and missile attacks across several Indian states, including Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan and Jammu & Kashmir. Indian forces successfully neutralised each of these threats, showcasing high preparedness and rapid response capabilities.

Multiple Drones Downed Across Gujarat & Rajasthan

According to an India Today report, in Kutch district alone, three more Pakistani drones were destroyed, leading to a region-wide blackout to safeguard military assets and civilian areas from potential follow-up attacks.

Between 4:30 am and 5:30 am, Pakistan attempted to strike the BSF camp in Ramgarh, Jaisalmer, using drones. India’s air defence systems intercepted and shot down these drones, preventing any damage. A similar infiltration attempt along the international border in Samba, J&K, was also foiled by the Border Security Force (BSF) overnight.

The Indian Army confirmed that Pakistan had carried out multiple drone-led assaults and ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) during the intervening night of May 8 and 9. “The drone attacks were effectively repulsed and a befitting reply was given to the CFVs,” the Army stated in an official release.

Over 50 Pakistani Drones Neutralised

Perhaps the most major development was the large-scale counter-drone operation conducted by Indian forces across strategic regions including Udhampur, Samba, Jammu, Akhnoor, Nagrota and Pathankot. During this operation, over 50 Pakistani drones were neutralised, marking one of the most extensive anti-drone efforts in recent times.

The response featured the deployment of sophisticated air defence weapons such as L-70 anti-aircraft guns, Zu-23mm cannons, Schilka systems and advanced counter-unmanned aerial systems (UAS) to track and destroy incoming aerial threats, reported ANI.
