In a shocking incident in Najibabad, a retired Public Works Department (PWD) engineer allegedly fired multiple rounds at a stray dog after it allegedly barked at him. The firing incident has triggered panic in the locality. The entire incident was captured on CCTV and has since gone viral on social media, drawing widespread condemnation.

According to reports, the engineer, enraged by the dog's barking, fired five rounds in the residential colony of Savitri Enclave under Najibabad police station limits. As locals protested the act, the accused locked himself inside his house. A police complaint has been filed in the matter.

The incident has sparked anger among residents, who are demanding the cancellation of the engineer’s revolver license and strict legal action against him. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Police took cognizance of the viral video and directed Bijnor police to investigate the matter. Another video has surfaced showing the dog lying dead in a drain.

In a separate incident that was reported in April this year from Jharkhand's capital Ranchi, a man shot dead a street dog. After a video of the incident came to light, police registered an FIR against the accused.
