‘My Favourite Is Panki, What About You?’: Japanese Ambassador Relishes Gujarati Food During His State Visit; Netizens React

Japan's Ambassador to India and Bhutan, Keiichi Ono, enjoyed Gujarat food during his recent visit to the state. Ono shared pictures of himself having authentic Gujarati dishes on his X account. The Japanese envoy also disclosed his favourite dish.

Ahmedabad: Japan's Ambassador to India and Bhutan, Keiichi Ono, enjoyed Gujarat food during his recent visit to the state. Ono shared pictures of himself having authentic Gujarati dishes on his X account. The Japanese envoy also disclosed his favourite dish.

"Gujarat has so many saras, local delicacies, including Khandvi, Dhokla, Patra, Dahi Puri and Handvo…!" Ono said in his X post.

“My favourite is Panki, what about you?” he added.

Netizens were impressed by Ono’s love for Gujarati dishes. Some social media users even suggested that the Japanese Ambassador place where he can get bet best Gujarati food.

“I like this sushi and dhokla combo,” an X user commented.

“Just seeing the photos makes my mouth water 😋 I hope you are enjoying the hospitality of Gujarati’s,” another user wrote.

“Mr Ambassador is having a great time. I am happy to see him relishing Indian delicacies,” a user commented.

"Swati Snacks is a great place for Gujarati snacks," a user suggested.

On Friday, Ono, accompanied by Japan's Minister of Economic and Development Affairs, Koyoko Hokugo, paid a courtesy visit to Gujarat's Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar.

As per an official statement by the Gujarat Chief Minister's Office (CMO), during his three-day visit to Gujarat, which included Dholera SIR and meetings with 150 top industrialists in Ahmedabad, the Ambassador highlighted Japan's intent to deepen ties with the state. He also appreciated the State Government's support for over 350 Japanese companies operating in the state.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel stated that Gujarat is like a second home for Japan, offering a supportive environment with Japanese townships, restaurants, and industries.
