Chennai: Passengers and crew on an international cargo flight from Kuala Lumpur escaped a potential disaster in Chennai on Tuesday, August 12, after one of the aircraft’s engines caught fire during landing.
Airport officials told PTI that flames were spotted in the fourth engine shortly before touchdown, but the pilots maintained control and completed the landing without declaring an emergency.
Fire tenders, already on standby, were reportedly rushed to the scene and quickly doused the blaze, preventing any escalation. Authorities confirmed there were no injuries in the incident.
An investigation is now underway to determine what triggered the mid-air scare.
