Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Chief Mayawati made a significant announcement on Tuesday, removing her nephew Akash Anand from the position of National Coordinator. Citing the need for maturity in handling such responsibilities, Mayawati stated that until he attains maturity, Akash Anand will be relieved from his role as National Coordinator and successor.

In a social media post on platform X, Mayawati emphasized the importance of BSP as not just a political party but also a movement rooted in the ideals of self-respect, self-esteem, and social change advocated by Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. She reiterated her lifelong dedication, along with Kanshiram, to this movement and the ongoing effort to prepare the new generation to carry it forward.

Explaining the decision, Mayawati mentioned that while promoting other individuals within the party, "Akash Anand was entrusted with the responsibility of National Coordinator and considered as a potential successor. However, considering the broader interests of the party and the movement, he is being relieved of these duties until he achieves full maturity."

Mayawati clarified in the post that Akash Anand's father, Anand Kumar, will continue to fulfill his responsibilities within the party and the movement as he did before.

She reaffirmed the BSP leadership's commitment to making any necessary sacrifices for the party's welfare and the advancement of Dr. Ambedkar's vision. This decision comes in the wake of a case registered against Akash Anand for alleged violation of the model code of conduct in Sitapur, leading to his prohibition from attending any public meetings in support of BSP candidates during the ongoing Parliament elections.
