Raipur/Bastar: As the deadline of March 31, 2026 started approaching closer, the bloody battle between the red ultras and security forces became more fierce and deadlier with the massive change in their strategies.

The members of banned outfit CPI Maoists, battling security forces with guerrilla technique, gradually adopted lethal techniques as it was adopted by Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). The red ultras in order to cause more damage to security forces during their anti-insurgency operation laid pressure mines and IEDs in the hilly area of Karregatta situated on the borders of Chhattisgarh and Telangana state.

In this regard, the Maoists have also released warning pamphlets mainly written in Telugu to inform the villagers. Shanta, secretary of Venkatapuram Area Committee of Maoists, has asked the villagers not to go to the forest and hills of Karregatta for hunting. We have placed IED here for our safety, the Maoists leader mentioned in the pamphlet.

In the letter it was further mentioned that the governments are confiscating the land of farmers and forest land to fulfill the interests of landlords and capitalists. Even the Governments have also signed many agreements with multinational companies.

In order to save ourselves, hundreds of bombs were planted in the hill of Karregatta, she mentioned. Maoists have made open public declarations about the bomb planted to restore damage control in their reputation. Earlier several villagers were killed and got injured by stepping on the planted pressure bombs in the entire Bastar region, one security official posted in Bastar said.

Even in the controversial Amdai mining area of Narayanpur several bombs were planted to disrupt mining activities and several incidents of bomb explosion were reported in which villagers, mining, crew and security forces received major injuries, the senior police official mentioned.

The Naxals have released these types of pamphlets several times earlier in various areas. However, this time, the language shows the ultras have started frightening off security forces actions and reeling under tremendous pressure due to the dwindling size of the area of influence, he said.
