Hardoi: In a dramatic incident in Uttar Pradesh's Mallawan area on Sunday night (July 27), 23-year-old Tajuddin alias Shanu, a close aide of former Mallawan Municipality chairman Vishal Jaiswal, was shot in the neck by a group of unidentified assailants, as per a report by Dainik Jagran.
The attack reportedly took place near Asmani Palace on the Katra-Bilhaur highway, when Shanu was heading towards home form Jaiswal's office. He has been referred to the Trauma Centre in Lucknow due to his critical condition.

How did the incident unfold?
Shanu, who is a resident of Qazipur and a personal assistant to Jawisal, was reportedly riding his motorbike as usual when the attackers, who were said to be around a dozen in number, chased him and shot him right before the Gayatri Petrol Pump.
Bleeding and severely injured, Shanu managed to drag himself to the petrol pump, where staff immediately contacted Jaiswal. He was rushed to CHC Mallawan for first aid, and then referred to Lucknow due to the severity of his injuries.

Family points to previous threats
As per the report, Shanu's family members revealed that he had been receiving threats linked to an assault case for the past few days. They claimed that the local police had been informed about it but no security measures were put in place. However, no written complaint has been submitted to the police at the time of writing this article.
CO Bilgram Ravi Prakash Singh, as quoted by Dainik Jagran, told reporters that Shanu’s condition is now stable and added, “The police has started investigation and soon the accused will be arrested."
