Malegaon Bomb Blast Case: Bombay HC dismisses discharge plea filed by Lt Col Prasad Shrikant Purohit |

The Bombay High Court on Monday dismissed a plea filed by Lt Col Prasad Purohit seeking discharge from the 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case.

A division bench of Justices Ajey Gadkari and PD Naik dismissed his plea observing that Purohit was not discharging duty as an officer of the Indian Army while attending meetings of Abhinav Bharat Group. The NIA had alleged that Purohit attended several meetings during which the conspiracy was hatched to carry out the blasts.

The HC had reserved order in plea by Purohit challenging rejection of his discharge by the special NIA court in the Malegaon 2008 bomb blast case.

Purohit had filed an application before the special NIA court seeking discharge from the case, which was rejected. He then approached the HC challenging the rejection order passed by the special court.
