The Maha Kumbh is one of the most revered and sacred festivals in Hinduism. It has transcended its religious origins to become a globally recognized cultural event. According to the news agency ANI, approximately 15 million pilgrims participated in the ritual at the Sangam on the first day of the Maha Kumbh.
Notably, there has been a significant presence of foreign devotees this time. Recently, a group of 20 female devotees from Italy arrived in Prayagraj and recited Vedic verses on the banks of the Ganga. Their spiritual enthusiasm has added to the charm of the entire Maha Kumbh celebration.
Women devotees enchanted 'Har Har Mahadev'
Many foreign devotees visited Prayagraj to embark on their spiritual journeys. Among them, a group of women participated in the Maha Kumbh Mela, expressing their devotion and gratitude. A video shared by the news agency PTI captured this group of women reciting the Kalbhairav Ashtakshara and chanting, "Har Har Mahadev."
What is the meaning of Kumbh?
The word "Kumbh" is derived from the Sanskrit term for "earthen pot" or "pitcher," symbolising the womb, which nurtures life and represents the eternal cycle of creation and dissolution. The Kalash, or pot, embodies the womb of the goddess.
It symbolises fertility, abundance, and growth. The womb is significant because everything in physical reality originates from a mother's womb. It serves as a portal that connects physical reality to cosmic reality, which is why the Kalash holds great importance, especially in Hinduism.
