A heart-wrenching incident surfaced from Kerala's Thrissur, where a 41-year-old man was crushed to death by a truck while he was rescuing an injured cat stranded in the middle of the road.

Thrissur: A heart-wrenching incident surfaced from Kerala's Thrissur, where a 41-year-old man was crushed to death by a truck while he was rescuing an injured cat stranded in the middle of the road. The incident took place on Tuesday night near the Mannuthy area in Thrissur. The incident was recorded on CCTV and the disturbing video surfaced on social media.

The deceased has been identified as Sijo Chittilapilly. He was hit by a truck at around 10:30 pm on Tuesday, reported The New Indian Express. In the CCTV footage, that surfaced online, it could be seen that after seeing the injured cat on the road, Chittilapilly rushed to rescue the cat.

As soon as Chittilapilly rushed towards the cat, the animal rushed to the other side of the road and the truck, which was reportedly approaching at a high speed, hit the 41-year-old man. The vehicle dragged Chittilapilly for a few metres.

Locals rushed to save him. He was taken to a hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries.

The 41-year-old man was an animal lover. As per the man's neighbours, Chittilapilly had at least three cats and five dogs in his house, reported The New Indian Express.

Hi is reportedly survived by his sister and she is living with her family abroad. "He does not socialise much, but we have seen him always caring for animals. He used to feed stray dogs in the place. Every day, stray dogs wait for him to keep their food on the roadside near his home," Chittilapilly's relative told the media house.

A case has reportedly been registered against the truck driver. The police have launched a detailed investigation into the matter.
