Karnataka: EC Hits Out At Rahul Gandhi Over Voter Fraud Allegations, Seeks Declaration; Congress MP Says 'I Don't Lie To People'

Responding to Karnataka CEO's response to the allegations, Gandhi has said, “I'm a politician. What I say to the people is my word. I'm saying it publicly to everybody. Take it as an oath. This is their data, and we are displaying their data.”

New Delhi: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Karnataka on Thursday hit out at Congress leader and Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi over allegations of voter fraud against the poll body. EC has sought a declaration from Rahul Gandhi.

Karnataka EC in its response said, "Ret 1. KPCC letter dated 03.08.2025 and dated 04.08.2025 2. CEO office letter DPAR 117 CHUSIA 2025 dated 06.08.2025," the response letter signed by Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka read.

"Sir, As per the references 1 cited above, time had been sought for the delegation of INC to meet the Chief Electonal Officer of Kamataka and to submit a memorandum. Accordingly, a time between 1 PM to 3 PM on 8 August 2025 was confirmed," the EC revealed.

"As you are aware, the electoral rolls are prepared in a transparent manner, as per the Representation of the People Act, 1950, the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960 and the Instructions issued by the Election Commission of India from time to time," EC added.

Karnataka EC furthers said, "Election results can be questioned only by a way of Election Petition before Hon'ble High Court."

Responding To Rahul Gandhi's Press Conference the EC said, "You are kindly requested to sign and return the enclosed Declaration/Oath under Rule 20(3)(b) of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, along with the name(s) of such so that necessary proceedings can be initiated."

Responding to Karnataka CEO's response to the allegations, Gandhi has said, “I'm a politician. What I say to the people is my word. I'm saying it publicly to everybody. Take it as an oath. This is their data, and we are displaying their data.”

"This is not our data. This is Election Commission data. Interestingly, they haven't denied the information. They haven't told the voter list that Rahul Gandhi is talking about are wrong. Why don't you say they wrong? Because you know the truth. You know that we know that you have done this across the country," Gandhi was qouted saying by news agency ANI.

Rahul Gandhi levelled serious allegations against the BJP and the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday during a dramatic press conference held in the national capital. Presenting his claims using a powerpoint presentation, Gandhi accused the BJP and EC of colluding to 'steal' votes in both the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections in Maharashtra and Karnataka’s Mahadevapura constituency.
