A 40-year-old man succumbed to burn injuries after falling into a fire pit on Saturday during Muharram celebrations in Karnataka's Raichur district. The man was immediately taken to hospital but could not be saved.

According to reports, the victim, identified as Hanumanth, was preparing for the festival when he accidentally fell into the fire pit, which was being used for a key ritual during Muharram. He was rushed to Lingasugur Government Hospital, where doctors declared him dead, news agency ANI reported, citing Lingasugur Police.

In a separate incident in Bihar's Darbhanga, at least one person died and 24 others were injured due to electrocution during a Muharram procession on Saturday.

The incident occurred in Kakorha village under the jurisdiction of Sakatpur Police Station when a portion of the tazia came into contact with a high-tension electric wire.
