New Delhi: US Vice President JD Vance is set to arrive in India today (April 21) for a four-day visit for high-level diplomatic engagements across Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to host Vance and his family for dinner after bilateral talks that will touch upon trade, tariffs and strengthening strategic cooperation, as per a report by PTI.
Vice President Vance will be accompanied by his wife, Usha Vance, and their three children, Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel, during the trip. The family is scheduled to land at Delhi’s Palam airbase at 10:00 AM on Monday, where a senior Union minister will receive them.
Soon after their arrival, the Vance family will visit the Swaminarayan Akshardham temple. The delegation may also stop by a shopping complex that features traditional Indian handicrafts. By the evening, at around 6:30 PM, Vance will sit down with PM Modi for official talks. The meeting is expected to focus on “an early finalisation of the proposed India-US bilateral trade agreement” and enhancing overall bilateral ties, PTI reported.
Indian officials expected at the meeting will also include External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and India’s Ambassador to the US, Vinay Mohan Kwatra. Following the talks, the PM will host a formal dinner for the visiting dignitaries and senior US officials accompanying Vance, including personnel from the Pentagon and the State Department.
Vances To Visit Jaipur and Agra
After the dinner, the Vance family will fly to Jaipur on Monday night. On April 22, they will visit the Amer Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and other historical landmarks in the Pink City. The Vice President is also scheduled to speak at the Rajasthan International Centre, where he is expected to discuss the future of India-US relations under the Trump administration. The audience will include diplomats, academics, and other Indian officials.
On April 23, the Vances will head to Agra to tour the Taj Mahal and Shilpgram, an artisan village showcasing Indian crafts. Later in the day, they will return to Jaipur.
The family will be staying at the historic Rambagh Palace in Jaipur, and will depart for the US on April 24, according to a PTI report.
