Three men, including a former Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) office-bearer and two current students, have been arrested in connection with the gang rape of a law student on a college campus in Kasba, South Kolkata.
The FIR based on the woman's complaint reveals chilling details about the ordeal she endured. The victim alleges that the main accused, 31-year-old Monojit Mishra, became enraged after she rejected his marriage proposal, explaining she was already in a relationship. The furious accused then allegedly locked her in a room, threatened to kill both her and her boyfriend, and vowed to have her parents arrested.

"I touched his feet, but he didn't let me go... They forcibly took me to the guard room, undressed me and raped me," India Today reported, quoting the victim's statement from the FIR.
The victim further claims the accused recorded the assault and threatened to make the footage public if she refused to comply. When she resisted the sexual assault and attempted to escape, the accused allegedly beat her with a hockey stick, causing injuries.

Reports indicate the horrific crime occurred between 7:30 pm and 10:50 pm on Wednesday within the South Calcutta Law College campus.
On Thursday evening, police apprehended two suspects, Mishra and Ahmed, at a Kasba area traffic signal in south Kolkata, confiscating their mobile devices during the arrest. The third suspect, Mukherjee, was detained at his home around 12:30 am on Friday, with officers seizing his mobile phone as well.
BJP IT Cell Chief Condemns Kolkata Gang-Rape Incident
Responding to the shocking incident, BJP's Information Technology Cell chief Amit Malviya stated on Friday that West Bengal has become "a nightmare for women" under the Trinamool Congress regime, where "rape has become a routine tragedy."
In a post on X, Malviya made serious allegations, claiming, "Reports suggest college authorities were instructed to lock the gates while the crime was being committed!" He followed this with a pointed question: "College authorities were instructed to lock the gates while the crime was taking place?"
Launching a scathing attack on the ruling party, Malviya asserted, "This is not just a crime. This is a cover-up of the highest order. The TMC has become a party of rapists and their protectors."
The BJP leader vowed, "We will not allow political power to bury this crime. We will not let Mamata Banerjee's regime silence the voice of justice. The BJP stands firmly with the victim, and we will fight relentlessly until justice is served."
