Video Of The Incident:
The Telangana Gig and Platform Workers’ Union (TGPWU), in a press statement, questioned the food delivery company for asking riders to work in inclement weather by offering them just a Rs 10 or 15 rain bonus.
“This is not just an accident – it is a direct consequence of platforms prioritising profits over worker safety. God blessed Farhan with his life yesterday, but tomorrow may be too late for another worker," said Shaik Salahuddin, TGPWU chief, as quoted by News18.

Salahuddin further asked Zomato to compensate for the loss of the rider. The TGPWU also requested the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to take action against such companies which risk their workers' lives in the extreme weather conditions.
Sayed Farhan's Video Message:
Meanwhile, Farhan is a resident of the Santosh Nagar area. "There is a drain in front of Jillelaguda TKR Command. My bike fell into the drain. I could not make out that there was a drain due to waterlogging. There were no markings also. My bike got damaged. I also lost my phone worth Rs 20,000," Farhan said in a video message shared by TGPWU.
I bought a new bike worth RS 1,40,000. I have to pay monthly instalments. I have a lot of problems, and it was the only means of earning. I am requesting all the media people. Please forward this video to Zomato. I am married and I have a child," he added.
However, Zomato has not issued any statement on the incident so far.
