Heavy Rains Lash Chennai; Waterlogging Reported In Several Areas - VISUALS

Heavy rains lashed Tamil Nadu's capital Chennai on Wednesday due to which the city witnessed waterlogging and traffic disruptions in several areas.

Chennai: Heavy rains lashed Tamil Nadu's capital Chennai on Wednesday, April 16. These showers offered some relief from heat conditions. However, the city witnessed waterlogging and traffic disruptions in several areas, including Guindy, Ashoknagar and Vadapalani.

Authorities have been deployed to clear waterlogging and restore normalcy. Visuals of waterlogging in several areas of the city also surfaced online.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted intermittent showers in Chennai on April 21.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for several districts in Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Kancheepuram, Thiruvallur and Chengalpattu, reported Mathrubhumi news portal.

The weather agency issued a warning of moderate rain, thunderstorms, and lightning on Wednesday in these districts.

A yellow alert has also been issued for Erode, Dharmapuri Salem, Virudhunagar, and Ramanathapuram.
