Gaziabad: A fire broke out in a mall at Rajnagar RDC in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday afternoon, creating panic among the people present at the spot. Following the incident, fire brigade rushed to the spot. The cause of the fire is said to be due to short circuit. No injuries were reported in the incident.
More than half a dozen fire trucks worked tirelessly to bring the blaze under control. Fortunately, the situation was contained before it could escalate further. A video of the chaos after the fire has emerged. In the video it can be seen that some people are hanging on the windows of the building risking their lives to get saved from the fire. Reportedly, there was a lack of emergency exit in the building.
It is visible in the video, that large number of crowd has also gathered under the building. The video also shows, a cloud of black smoke emerging out of the building. People standing on the balcony can be seen covering their nose with handkerchief to protect themselves from inhaling smoke The video is now viral on social media.
Police Reacts
DCP Ghaziabad City Rakesh Kumar speaking to the media said, "A fire broke out in a multi-storey building. Prima facie, the fire was caused by a short circuit. The lift also broke down. Rescue operations were carried out very quickly. The fire has been completely controlled. No one was injured."
