New Delhi: The Centre ordered a probe into alleged irregularities in the renovation of the 6 Flagstaff Bungalow, the former official residence of ex-Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. The investigation into the matter was ordered on February 13 after the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) submitted a factual report, reported NDTV.
The Centre directed the CPWD to conduct a detailed inquiry into the allegations. Notably the BJP dubbed the luxurious mansion as "Shaeeshmahal".
It is reportedly spread over eight acres. The probe has been ordered to find out whether government regulations were ignored for the construction of the bungalow.
What are BJP's Allegations?
Ahead of the recently concluded Delhi Assembly polls, the alleged irregularities in the renovation of the bungalow.The saafron party had also released avideo of the bungalow, in which it alleged that the entire cost of building the "Sheeshmahal" was Rs 52 crore.

In the video, the BJP had claimed that curtains in the "Sheeshmahal" cost Rs one crore, while, the doors of the house are of Rs 70 lakh and TVs worth Rs 65 lakh were also installed in bungalow. Notably, the residence was built at the time when Kejriwal was the Chief Minister of Delhi. He vacated the bungalow after resigning from the CM post last year.
Notably, in the recently concluded assembly elections in Delhi, the BJP registered a thumping victory by winning 48 seats out of 70. The Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) managed to bag only 22 seats.
