A court in Punjab's Jalandhar sent 26-year-old Amritpal Singh Dhillon, the accused in the marathon runner Fauja Singh hit-and-run case, to judicial custody for 14 days on Wednesday.
Dhillon was arrested yesterday from his residence in Dasupur village, near Kartarpur in Jalandhar district.
Dhillon crashed his car into 114-year-old legendary marathon runner Fauja Singh and fled the scene, leaving the injured person behind on July 14.

Earlier today, speaking to the media, Jalandhar SSP Rural Harvinder Singh Virk said, "The accused has been identified as Amritpal Singh Dhillon, and he is 26 years old. He works in Canada and returned to India on June 23 for the construction of his house. His sister and mother are settled in Canada. The incident took place on July 14, and after hitting Fauja Singh, he fled from the spot and parked his car in a garage."
"We arrested him from his house yesterday. After watching the news, he came to know that the person he had hit was Fauja Singh," he added.
